General Moving FAQs

  • Selling Your property: As a seller, you’re responsible for the rental agreement until it’s transferred to the new buyer.

    To transfer the rental agreement:
    • Inform your real estate lawyer about your Enercare rental equipment.
    • Validate that equipment and rental agreement are listed in the Agreement of Purchase and Sale (APS).
    • Alternatively, arrange for the buyer to complete an Assumption Agreement with the buyer.
    After the sale: Buying a property:
    • Check your APS to determine if there is any rental equipment at the property.
    Moving Out as a Tenant:
    • Submit a move request through our online form.
    • Provide details like your move-out date and tenant information.
    • Notify your landlord that we’ll be contacting them to confirm your move-out.
    Moving In as a Tenant:
    • Submit a move request through our online form.
    • Share details like your move-in date and tenant information.
    • Let your landlord know that we’ll be in touch to confirm your move-in.
           
  • When buying a property:
    • Enercare rental agreements are transferrable upon the sale of a property. You may have agreed to assume the rental equipment during the purchase of your home, either through the Agreement of Purchase and Sale for the property or an Assumption Agreement.
    • .If your Agreement of Purchase and Sale (APS) did not include the rental equipment and you did not sign an Assumption Agreement, please contact us at 1-855-642-8607.
    Tenant moving into a property:
    • The monthly billing may have been transferred to you by the landlord of your property. Confirm with your landlord about your obligations. If there is a discrepancy, have your landlord call us at 1-855-642-8607 to revise the billing details.
     
  • You can transfer your plan at no cost to your new home, as long as it’s inside our service area. Please submit a move request through our online form to advise us of the move, and we will be happy to assist with the transfer. If your new house is outside of our service area, your plan will be cancelled in accordance with the terms and conditions.
  • Don’t worry – there are no moving transaction or activation fees with Enercare.

    If you are moving in:
    • If there is Enercare rental equipment at the home, please submit a Move request to get started. Once submitted, feel free to call us at 1-855-642-8607 to learn more about your product holdings and the various other services we provide.
    If you are moving out:
    • If you have a Enercare rental equipment and are transferring it to the new homeowner, make sure to include the equipment and rental agreement in your APS. Then, submit a Move request once your house is sold so we can transfer the rental account to the new homeowner.
    • You can transfer your maintenance or protection plan to your new home at no cost, as long as it’s inside our service area.
  • Selling a property/Moving out as a tenant:
    • If you have Enercare rental equipment, your last bill will be pro-rated up until the date of your move. If you have a protection and/or maintenance plan the remaining installments of your contract will bill out if you do not transfer the coverage to your new home. Enercare does not charge any transaction or activation fees for moving properties, but there may be charges for the cancellation of your contract(s).
    Buying a property/Moving in as a tenant:
    • If you have Enercare rental equipment at your new home, your first bill will be pro-rated from your move date until the bill period end date. If you had protection and/or maintenance plans with Enercare at a previous address and got charged a bill out but transferred them to your new home, you can expect a credit equivalent to the bill out amount to be applied to your account.

    Home Buying or Selling FAQs

    • An Agreement of Purchase and Sale is a written contract between a seller and a buyer for the purchase and sale of a particular property. This agreement includes information of what products and contracts are being transferred between the seller and the buyer – such as Enercare rental equipment. APS Example
    • For Homeowners: Enercare contracts are transferrable upon the sale of a property. The previous owner may have transferred the rental to you. The transfer is done through an Agreement of Purchase and Sale or an Assumption Agreement. If your Agreement of Purchase and Sale (APS) did not include the rental and you did not sign an Assumption Agreement, please contact us at 1-855-642-8607 and share a copy of your APS. Once received and validated by our Moving experts, your account will be closed, and any applicable charges reversed. However, if your APS discloses the rental or you have signed an Assumption Agreement, you will be responsible for the terms of the contract.
    • Submit a moving request through the Moves Form. Make sure you include your Agreement of Purchase and Sale or signed Assumption Agreement when you submit the request.      
    • For Homeowners: Enercare requires documentation to determine the person responsible for payment of the rental fees for the rental equipment.      
    • Ask your real estate lawyer for a copy of the agreement.
    • If your rental agreement is not transferred to the new homeowner, you will be required to buyout the equipment in accordance with the terms of the rental agreement.
    • The easiest way to check what services are at the property is to discuss it with the seller and review what equipment has been included in the APS.  You can also speak with your real estate agent or lawyer. If you are assuming an Enercare rental agreement as part of your purchase of the home, please submit a request through our Moves Form.
    • If you have Enercare rental equipment and would like to get an inspection, please call us to book an appointment at 1-855-642-8607.

      • You can still submit a move request to have the Rental agreement transferred to the new homeowner.
      • Have the new homeowner fill out the Assumption Agreement after which you can submit a move request online .
      • If your rental agreement is not transferred to the new homeowner, you will be required to buyout the equipment as per the terms of the rental agreement
    • Moving houses can be a busy and stressful time, and we want to help ensure our customers are informed about their obligations during their move. To help with this, Enercare uses an automated system that notifies us whenever a house with Enercare services is listed or sold and automatically sends educational communications to those customers. In some cases, there may be errors. Please disregard if a communication was sent to you in error.

      Tenancy Changes FAQs

      • Submit a move request through our Moves Form to provide us the name and contact information of your new tenant. Once the move is submitted and processed you can expect to receive your last bill pro-rated until from the last bill period up until the move in date of your tenant. Keep in mind that the rental responsibilities remain with you throughout the term of the contract. Failure from your tenant to make timely payments may result in a buyout charge placed for you If your tenant requires new equipment, we will need for you to call in and request this.
      • The bill will continue to go to you until you have a new tenant. Once you do have a new tenant that is going to assume the bill submit a move request through our Moves Form to provide us with their name, contact information.
      • Review your lease agreement to check which services you are obligated to pay for. If you’re not sure whether you are supposed to be paying for the Enercare product or service you are being billed for, discuss with your landlord and/or real estate agent.
      • Submit a moving request through the Moves Form . Once completed, give your landlord a notice that Enercare will contact them to confirm.
